Purple Butterfly was started by Khoo Kee Suan (Suan) in 2004, after 25 years in the advertising business – where she had managed clients, worked on strategic plans and ran an advertising agency. The decision to start up and operate a business so completely different was inspired by her love for flowers and the satisfaction of using the medium to create work that is Simply Beautiful.

As she sees it, Purple Butterfly is not just a flower and gift business. “We are in the business of making people happy…and how blessed are we who can do this everyday for a living.”

Suan has trained with and attended workshops conducted by renowned floral experts, both local and foreign. Her work has been commissioned by customers locally and around the world, and sent to many, including leading dignitaries and celebrities, in Malaysia.

What’s in the name? Why Purple Butterfly? Aside from purple being a pretty colour and butterflies being a whimsical expression of beauty, the truth is that the name was pinched off her daughter’s first email address, and that she couldn’t pinch her second (MadAboutGerberas).

Purple Butterfly operates out of its premises at Valencia in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, Malaysia.
